  • DRUMS & COMPOSING
OT, LIVE, MARKTHALLE HAMBURG, November 2025, Project Pitchfork Epitaph Tour Support.

ENGLISH
Since the late 1980s, I have been active as a drummer in numerous bands, while also developing a strong passion for electric bass and synthesizers. Since 2000, I have been working as a composer.
My musical journey began with piano and organ, eventually leading me to drums and later to bass. Live, however, drums remain my preferred instrument
For my compositions, I use software such as Propellerhead Reason and Logic Pro, along with a range of synthesizers from Moog, Nord Lead, Access Virus and Korg, many of which still have a permanent place in my studio.
Synth basses, powerful and distinctive drumbeats, and dark soundscapes shape my characteristic sound for Oberer Totpunkt.
Musically, I am strongly influenced by 1980s New Wave, Wave and EBM, as well as 1990s Industrial, Grunge and Metal.
My Top All-Time Favorite Bands, in no particular order: 01 Nirvana 02 Marilyn Manson 03 Rammstein 04 The Sisters of Mercy 05 Metallica 06 Devo 07 Oingo Boingo 08 The B-52s 09 Jello Biafra / Dead Kennedys 10 Pink Floyd — #1, of course, is just a joke! The following English-speaking bands and artists have inspired me the most. I own the complete discographies and CDs of many of them, and the most important albums of most of the others: 50s Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash 60s The Doors, The Beatles, The Beach Boys 70s Pink Floyd, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Sex Pistols 80s The Cure, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Tears for Fears, Heaven 17, The Human League, ABC, Wall of Voodoo, Gang of Four, The Europeans, Talking Heads, DAF, Ideal, Trio, Fehlfarben, Madness, The Specials 90s Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Ministry, Das Ich, Project Pitchfork, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Hüsker Dü, Queens of the Stone Age, Mr. Bungle, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Blur 2000s Drum’n’Bass, Trip-Hop, Massive Attack, Jamiroquai, Mindless Self Indulgence, Franz Ferdinand 2010s King Dude, Potochkine, Boy Harsher, Billie Eilish 2020s Nothing so far. Drum reviews have described my playing as featuring “lightning-fast fill-in attacks,” “hard industrial grooves,” “fast drum’n’bass beats,” and “powerful tom barrages.” Always in focus: my “drumming in a leather coat,” my 70s-style staccato and North Drums, as well as my upside-down drumming. Some drum solos, drum covers and sound recordings can be heard on my YouTube channel MK DRUMS.
